Chartreuse says take this Calacanis

Chartreuse guy has a unique style of writing. His posts are full of semi-nude pics of chicks, curse words, spelling errors, but all posts have one thing in common, they have a strong message for the guys who haven’t made big yet in the world of New media.

He talks about common person, and the new media. He hates celebrities, though he also manages a blog on Angelina Jolie. If I were a little drunk, I might have called him the Hemingway of Web 2.0 writing. The man seems to be acting out what he so passionately writes..

For Chartreuse, the Army of One or, for that matter, the Army of Davids is not some fancy idea one reads on books.

Maybe Chartreuse did not like Calacanis’ offer to buy out top diggers for $ 1000 a month a pop. As it is, Jason is acting a bit weird, un-web 2.0-like these days after he got access to AOL’s rich coffers.

But frankly speaking Chartreuse did it beacuse of an email he got from his reader.

Therefore, yesterday Chartreuse came out with a knocker. He has asked the new media writers, Citizen Journalists to pack their bags and move to New Orleans and the Gulf Region for a weekend for an uncovered story about Katrina Victims. He is going to pay you $1000 and all the equipments you might need.

This is what we actually need more; we need common people, the nonprofessional, the real sufferers to get heard. This might not look so revolutionary to everyone, but if this executed right, people will come to read real stories, stories done by amateurs who have been there to report rather than reporters sitting in cubicles and rewriting the wired stories.

I think we have enough of Om Maliks, Calacanics and Arringtons talking about New Media. In the end, these good men will be plain Old Media Moguls. That end is just around the corner.

We need more people like Charteuse connecting and empowering the common people to participate in the reporting process, rather making it confusing to him.

I also wish we had some Chartreuse in India too.

Hi,

I agree with you on Chatreuse but about in India we need Om malik and Calcanis to emerge before a need for Chartreuse can arise.

Ankit, you are spot on with regards to the new moguls becoming the old moguls. They are hiring staffs and cooking deals with sponsors. Sounds a little like what the traditional media owners have been doing for years.

Chatreuse comes up as something refreshing in a blogophsere that seems to be harder and harder to be heard.

I think we are going to see the future of blogging as a cross between a social network and a blogging network, kind of like a more expanded version of Digg.

Good post!

Digg is one the biggest web 2.0 property out here, and has inspired development of coming new Web 2.0 tools.

One thing I don`t like about Digg, is even being a democratic way to select top news, power is being present in handful of Diggers. Many a times a news submitted by a common user gets lost in Upcoming news, while the same news submitted by a well known Digger makes Homepage Instantly.

With coming days, I’m sure we will find some better solutions and tools overcoming this thing.

Ankit,

Chartreuse ”The Hemingway of web 2.0 writing”, Hmmm...

I’m a bit of a Hemingway aficionado and I’d have to be real drunk to go that far. :)

The man’s passionate and has a unique style about him. He’s also the flavor of the month (or year).
