From the day we started Instablogs, we have categorized all our blogs’ posts under Categories. Since most of the bloggers at Instablogs were new at that time, and had little or no experience at that time.



However, the situation has changed. At this moment almost all of us, we have emerged into an experienced team of bloggers. Hence, it’s high time now we should get rid of all the categories into tags. We also needed this to provide better integration of whole Instablogs Network in our forthcoming Instablogs Community.



Few of the reason why we are dropping categories all together:



1. It is much easier to relate posts via tags then categories.

2. Tags can be categories, but categories are not tags.

3. Posts are usually in one to four categories. However, we can list as many tags for a post we want.

4. Tags are ‘many too many’, Categories are ‘one too many’. (via)

5. The most important reason is, tags offer better way of connecting and relating different posts on different blogs on the whole Instablogs Network via same or similar tags.



We would also like to move from taxonomy to folksonomy in coming few days, but for the while no Categories, only tags on Instablogs Network.
